grist mill, set along the banks of the Brandywine River. The
museum houses the premier collection of three generations of the
Wyeth Family; Nathaniel Converse Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth, Jamie Wyeth
and Carolyn Wyeth. The museum is internationally known for its
unparalleled collection of illustration, still life and landscape
paintings. Tour the museum open daily from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, closed Christmas Day or the N.C. Wyeth Sudio, open seasonally. |

Hagley Museum ¨ Route 141, Wilmington DE 19807 ¨ 302-658-2400 ¨ Hagley is the birthplace of the DuPont Company
(Eleutherian Mills) built in 1803 by E.I. DuPont on 230 acres.
The Georgian-style residence and gardens sit on the banks of the
Brandywine River within walking distance from the black power
factories. It features the original DuPont mills, estate and
gardens, interactive science exhibit (museum), machine shops,
Blacksmith Hill worker's community and the DuPont automobile, once
the most expensive car in the world. Regular Hours - March 12, 2005, through December 31, 2005: Open daily from 9:30 a.m.
to 4:30 p.m. Winter Hours - January 1, 2005, through March
11, 2005: Open weekdays for one guided tour at 1:30 p.m. Open

garden created by Pierre S. DuPont on 1,050 acres. Dress
comfortably and enjoy a four acre conservatory, exquisite flowers,
ancient trees, opulent architecture, spectacular seasonal events and
displays. The fabulous fountains should not be missed.
Open everyday and many evenings, two restaurants, gift shops and
picnic facilities. Allow 3 to 7 hours to visit. |

Nemours Mansion and
Gardens ¨ 1600 Rockland Road, Wilmington DE 19807 ¨ 800-651-6912 ¨ Alfred I. DuPont's modified Louis XVI
French-style chateau (built between 1909 and 1910) contains 102
rooms and is located on a 300 acre country estate. The 47,000 sq.ft. mansion
is furnished with fine examples of antique furniture, rare rugs,
tapestries and outstanding works of art set among spectacular formal
gardens. Also you will able to see the various utility systems
of the house, many designed by A.I. DuPont. The tour takes
about 2 hours. Advance reservations required. Opens May 1, 2008. |

Winterthur Museum and Library ¨ Route 52 (Kennett Pike)

great American country estates built by Henry Frances DuPont. Early
American decorative art objects and antiques (1640-1860) are displaying in
175 rooms. Discover an incomparable blend of beauty and history as
you; enjoy the garden tram (operated March thru December), 60 acre garden,
with azaleas and rhododendron, the Enchanted Woods (a fairy tale garden
for children of all ages), a nationally acclaimed research library,
Campbell Soup Tureen collection, highlight tours (approx one hour,
reservations required), fantastic gift shops and restaurant. The
Museum and Garden is open Tuesday-Sunday from 10 am-5 pm. Closed Mondays (except holidays), Thanksgiving Day, and

American Helicopter Museum and

exhibitions and collections of over 35 helicopters that show the
past and future of rotor wing flight. Also, see autogiros and
converti planes, eight of which you can climb aboard and have a
hands on interactive experience. Helicopter rides the third
Saturday of every month, April thru November. Open Wednesday -
Saturday from 10am to 5pm. Sunday from noon to 5pm. Monday and

that bring the Battle of the Brandywine to life. Self tour of
the campsites of General George Washington's colonial troops plus
tour Washington's headquarters and the Marquis de Lafayette's
quarters. The Visitor Center sells a map (driving tour) of the
battle area. The self driving tour is about 2 hours. |

Chadds Ford. Exhibits are in the Bar Visitors Center; it
maintains two historic houses (John Chadd House and Barn-Brinton
