Longwood Bed & Breakfast Inn, formerly Hedgerow Bed and
Breakfast Suites, is situated in the
very heart of the Brandywine Valley, on the Kennett Pike, the road
built by P.S. DuPont so he could easily travel from his farm at
Longwood to his office in Wilmington, Delaware. The Kennett Pike
travels through the beautiful chateau country of Southeast
Pennsylvania and Northern Delaware where many of the DuPont
families settled and built their estates as their Today the
unspoiled Kennett Pike area is unique with its open spaces,
rolling country side, villages and large estates beckoning to
visitors just as it did during the formative years of our Nation.
Many of the jewels of our area border on this road: Longwood
Gardens, Winterthur Museum, Delaware Natural History Museum and
the nearby Hagley and Brandywine River Museums. The business
district of downtown Wilmington is only 12 miles from Hedgerow
making this fine residential setting a perfect place for the
business traveler. |

The beautifully restored Carriage House sits adjacent to our main
house and provides three spacious suites. Each unique suite offers
guests the luxury and comfort of a sitting room, private full bath,
and separate bedroom(s). The Longwood Suite with a fireplace and
Jacuzzi; the Brandywine Suite has a canopy queen bed and twin bed;
and the Winterthur Suite with two bedrooms can easily accommodate up
to four guests. A wet-bar kitchen and pantry, with refrigerator,
microwave, and eating area offers at-home convenience for
refreshments at any time.
The quiet and very private accommodations are great for a special
weekend get away, wedding night, reunion, anniversary celebration,
or an extended stay of a week, a month, or longer. |
